Over the past three decades, photographer and filmmaker Richard Kern has been known to delve into many projects and is even labeled as one of the leaders of "Cinema of Transgression" movement of the 80's! Recently, Kern has gradually become interested on the human body and photographing naked young women in real-life settings that range from sitting on the toilet to sticking their heads into ovens. Some call it porn, others art, but images are undeniably timeless and always contain curious and provocative elements. In 2007, VICE began documenting Kern's shoots for the online video series SHOT BY KERN. Employing the same vérité style as its subject, the show is a candid examination of the models' body image, sex lives, hopes and dreams, and relationships with their parents, with Kern's matter-of-fact commentary on all of the above and much more.
